NINTH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ENGINEERING PLASTICS EP 2019 Yinchuan, China August 7-10, 2019

Organized by Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd Sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, China National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Polymer Division, Chinese Chemical Society (CCS).

The Ninth International Symposium on Engineering Plastics (EP’2019 Yinchuan) was held in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, August 7-10, 2019. Retaining a traditional logo of EP to continue the success legacy, EP’2019 Yinchuan was committed to serving as a biennial platform for fellow polymer materials scientists to exchange research progresses and share innovative ideas. With consultancy to some of our prestigious participants in the wake of EP’2017 Xi’an, the spirit of EP’2019 Yinchuan is set to “make polymer materials continuously excel”, according to which five scientific topics seen below were arranged. A special forum on polyolefin materials was planned as tradition, in accordance with the pick of Yinchuan where one of the world largest coal-turned-polyolefin companies, Shenning Group, is located.

  1. Polyolefin materials, both conventional and advanced 2. Bio-based and natural polymer materials 3. Advanced engineering plastics and thermosets 4. Multi-phase polymer systems including nanocomposites 5. Polymer characterization and rheology.

In the frame work of Symposium 2, Biobased and natuaral polymer material, our RISE BIODEST project participated with the invited talks of:

Guoming Liu, Dario Cavallo and Alejandro J. Müller.

The chairman of the conference was Prof. Dujin Wang, the PI of ICCAS participating in BIODEST.

We had the opportunity to meet with all the staff members from ICCAS that take part in BIODEST (professors, postdocs and PhD students) and together with professors Guoming Liu, Dujin Wang and Yulan Su from ICCAS, Dario Cavallo from University of Genoa and Alejandro J. Müller from Polymat-UPV/EHU we discussed about the WP3 and WP4 activities, future secondments and research plans.
